The Joomla Project announced the availability of Joomla 2.5.1. This security release is another of the regular updates to the Joomla community.
New Joomla version contains 2 security issues fixed and 30 tracker issues fixed.

New search module and new language packs ( polish pl-PL, spanish es-ES ) were added.
In "categories" module there's now option to choose the root category (good if you want to display different categories on different subpages).

Joomla 2.5.0 released

The Joomla Project team just announced the availability of Joomla 2.5.0 - a security release.
Version 2.5.0 is the next update from version 1.7 and will be supported for at least 18 months.
On 24 February 2012 Joomla 1.7 will reach end of it's life, so all users should update to version 2.5.0 before that term. The update process is very simple.
Joomla 2.5.0 contains:
- 26 new features added
- 4 security issues fixed
- 356 tracker issues fixed

The Joomla Project has just announced the availability of Joomla 2.5 RC 1 for download.
The final release of Joomla 2.5.0 GA (general availability) is planned on 24 January 2012.
Another announcement concerns September 2012, when next version of Joomla will be released.

Joomla 2.5 Beta1 was released

The Joomla Project has announced the availability of Joomla 2.5 Beta 1.
It's ready for download and testing.
This release will mainly allow testing of site and custom extensions
also allows testing of the upgrade from 1.7 version to 2.5.0 version.
That should help all administrators and developers report any problems before the expected final release.
This release of course, should not be used on production sites.
Joomla 2.5.0 GA (general availability) is due to be released on or about 10 January 2012.
Further plans after that date are:
- 10 February 2012 - Joomla 1.7 reaches end of life and is no longer supported
- April 2012 - Joomla 1.5 reaches end of life
- July 2012 - Next version of Joomla is released
